It’s the Other Guy

How many basketball teams can you name that had four future Hall of Famers playing at the same time?  I can name one: The 2004 Los Angeles Lakers.  Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Karl Malone, and Gary Payton formed a powerhouse.   

The Lakers marched into the NBA championship games as dominating favorites. Al Michaels, one of the announcers in the NBA championship games, observed that the Lakers had Hall of Fame players, while the Pistons had the players that nobody else wanted.   

But the Pistons crushed the Lakers for the NBA title.   

The Lakers had talent. But, with high-profile talent, often comes big egos.  A team of individuals coveting…
