The Elephant… Don’t you see it?

The Elephant in the room….
-
Why is it that many of us human beings don’t acknowledge the obvious? We can look at the Elephant in the room and act like we don’t see it.
-
There are many issues in our personal lives and in our communities, cities, states, nations, and our world that the old saying applies to. (war, homelessness, racism, hunger, poverty, to name a few)
-
Do we just choose not to see it? Is it fear that stops us?
cartoon-elephant-37
-
I had several conversations with friends about the issues they were experiencing in their lives that reminded me of the old saying “The Elephant in the room” first it would be helpful to define the saying for those who may not have heard it or those that really have taken no time to understand what it means.
-
Wikipedia says: “Elephant in the room” or “Elephant in the living room” is an English metaphorical idiom for an obvious truth that is either being ignored or going unaddressed. The idiomatic expression also applies to an obvious problem or risk no one wants to discuss.
-
The Oxford English Dictionary gives the first recorded use of the phrase, as a simile, as The New York Times on June 20, 1959: “Financing schools has become a problem about equal to having an elephant in the living room. It’s so big you just can’t ignore it.”[3]
-
The conversations were for the most part about the issues that they were dealing with; the largest cause of those issues was their own negative attitudes and perspectives. Most of them were running from the issue rather than going within and changing their perspectives. I was guilty recently of trying to shut out the rest of the world and focus… Not how it works!
-
Much like what was happening with my friends and family I was ignoring the “Elephant in the room.” Life doesn’t work that way nor can I just be a master of my mind and heart in solitude. I did need to take some time and get focused, mastery would be something that I have to do in my everyday life, in my encounters with the energy and attitudes that others.
-
The only one that can make things change in your life is you, what is your relationship with the Elephant in the room? Are you ignoring your pains and your negative attitude or those of your friends and loved ones pretending that they are not the problem?
-
We owe it to ourselves, our friends, our families to deal with the elephant! Go deep, confront then release your fears and negativity, and let those feelings go free. They like the elephant they do better out in the open than caged up in the room!
-
Thank you for being you, you are beautiful and quite awesome, I appreciate your taking the time to stop by and read my posts. It brings a great smile, speaking of which… Your smiles and the love you share are making our world a better place for all we share it with! Thank you for being the positive change our world so needs!

Sunday morning post “Coaches’ having Coffee.” A guest blog

We all have different perspectives and thoughts, so I asked my friend Appio to sit and have a cup of coffee with me .Before we met; we had been discussing the fact that not all coaches are the same. Not all styles of coaching will resonate with everyone. I am a laid back down to earth kind of person that doesn’t like to get all fired up and “gungho” like many of the coaches and trainers you might find in a gym for example.
644478198c81b5739fa13d1c0cbb9bbd

My friend Appio is more of a busy action happy kind of coach that is for the most part like the trainer at the gym. I found that as we all have our own learning styles and we all have different ways that we are motivated it would be nice to share another perspective with those who read my posts. It is my intent to inspire, incite and evoke positive change from within so that we may all achieve a state or at least the desire to achieve a state of human excellence in our world.

Good Morning, I would like to introduce you to a great friend, his name is Appio Hunter.

Appio Hunter 02.03

Appio is a “Happiness Coach” & Certified “Infinite Possibilities Trainer” the first thing that came to my mind when Appio handed me his card was ”What is a Happiness Coach” So to start the interview that was my first Question…
-
Joe: “Appio just out of curiosity what is a happiness coach and why did you choose that title?”
-
Appio:” I have felt since I was about 5 years old that my life’s purpose was to help people be happy. There is an epidemic of sadness and depression in our society, I have found and it is known that just hearing the word “Happy” brings about a state of happiness.”
-
Joe: “Awesome, I am curious, why did you mention sadness and depression? It seems unusual that as a happiness coach you would mention their opposites.”
-
Appio:” I have had a life long battle with depression and the thought process. For me it is a medical condition, I have a chemical imbalance that causes me to feel sad and depressed. I was prescribed drugs in my earlier years that would take bring relief from the depression yet they would also make me feel like a zombie of sorts. If that makes sense, I didn’t like the feeling the drugs produced anymore than I liked the effects of the depression I felt. I slowly weaned myself off of those drugs and have not taken them in many years. “
-
Joe: “Interesting I have heard that from many people that have that same condition. I am curious as to what is your secret to overcoming or controlling your condition?”
-
Appio: The life changer for me, my secret was discovering the works of “Mike Dooley” his books and quotes. I started getting his e mails “Notes from the Universe” they were quite inspirational. One day at the bottom of one of those notes was a note… It basically said become an Infinite Possibilities Trainer” I took the course and was so inspired I took it to the next level. I am a member of the LGTB Community and a member of the Gay writes writing group. There is a need for positive inspiration, some of the members of the writing group were in their own battles of depression. The next level of becoming a “Trailblazer” required becoming a teacher of the skills learned as a trainer by giving back, providing a service to the community. Within one month of finishing the course I had met the requirements to become a “Trailblazer.” I had taught and coached over six members of the community the skills and shared the tools of how to recognize and change their thought patterns.”
-
Joe:” If you could what would be the most important things you would share with me and the readers of my blog?”
-
Appio:” Happiness surrounds us, and it is always there for us to reach out and claim for our own. If we’re feeling sad, miserable, or depressed, it’s okay. Those feelings will pass as long as we acknowledge them and let them flow. We’re not here to be tried, sentenced, judged, and punished. We’re here to laugh, love, thrive, be happy, and have fun.”
Don’t ignore or try to suppress your feelings. You only feel worse if you do. Instead, acknowledge how you feel and then let yourself feel whatever it is you want to feel. Emotions are supposed to flow, so let them flow.
Your best friend when feeling sad or depressed is distraction. When you can’t seem to get rid of negative thoughts, distract yourself by flipping the thought around to its exact opposite. You can also make a gratitude list, and then supercharge your gratitude by celebrating everything on that list.
When nothing else works, just move into gratitude.
If you can learn to be grateful for the “bad” things that happen, you’ll discover that even the bad things can be something good.”
-
Joe: “Thank you Appio, that is some pretty awesome advice and wisdom you chose to share. How much do I owe you? Lol, lets get a refill and have some cake!
-

You are My Inspiration!!!!! And I love you all!

Last night as I spoke at a fall reading for an upcoming Anthology I looked at the crowd and shared with them the thoughts that were in my mind as I wrote the piece I shared with them. It was one I shared here as well although it was somewhat changed as I have edited it for the publication and the reading. As I took the stage and adjusted the microphone I looked into the crowd of about a hundred people and the diversity of the group made me smile . I was happy to see a homeless man in standing just outside the door and wished he would come in. His smile said he was happy where he was as he listened to the speakers sharing a wide variety of stories.

I began my speech as I looked at the crowd with ” I want you all to know that you are my inspiration! As I thought about how I was going to express my thoughts on self expression I thought about all the amazing people that I have had the gift of interacting with on my journey. You are all awesome and you are all in my eyes a Masterpiece.” I looked at the homeless guy and nodded my head as I said “yes You” then I shared my piece and my poem.

I love all of my fellow human beings and interact with so many in so many ways and from all walks of life. I wanted to share some of the things and people that inspire me and those people that create beautiful things with such heart even when they have dirt being kicked in their faces. The love and the heart is so inspirational to me I wonder why so many never open their eyes and see….

Just a few of the gifts that we miss as we look and judge, I will say that what we miss or what we judge still has a profound affect on who we become and what we contribute to our world. I am grateful for those beautiful people that took the time to share with us these few examples of what so many miss and the gifts they shared with us. They took the time to share a gift from some of those that are going through some hard times and our collective humanity by taking the time to share some love and show that they care!

I wanted to share these few thoughts as you start your weekend and I hope that you may take the time to enjoy the beautiful people around you as they share some of their beautiful gifts. Even a smile with a homeless person is a treasure for both of you a smile is an act of love from the heart of a Masterpiece!

Thank you all for being you the Masterpiece that you are for the inspiration you share with me as I learn and grow on my journey of knowing who I am and what that means.I am honored to be a human being sharing time and space with all of you beautiful human beings. Thank you for being awesome beautiful you! I am grateful that you share your smiles and your love making our world a better place for all we share it with.

Namaste! :)

Synchronicity, Carl Jung, Sir Isaac Newton, Blogging and the Emerald Tablet.. Off the hook and off the grid!

Synchronicity… A philosophical concept first described by Carl Jung, a Swiss psychologist in the 1920’s it is a term that has had great meaning in my life lately. Funny in a way as it brings me back to the one who coined the term in a very unique way. I suppose it was meant to be in my education and evolution that I would be at this point in time sharing thoughts about synchronicity and some of my experiences with the concept.
-
. It is only natural that for my own personal evolution, Alchemy is a part of my path spiritually. It is quite a gift that my time spent in the blog world in reading so many great blogs has been a treasure of knowledge shared both from the writers and those that inspire them and the knowledge over the ages that they are aware of and in turn make the rest of us aware of. It is quite synchronistic that I started blogging to share my thoughts and become a better writer and in doing so have added exponentially to my own spiritual growth and evolution by becoming part of a community of writers of which many are on a path of spiritual growth and evolution as well. I learn from every writer something that helps me become a better human being than I was before I read what they shared! Thank you all for sharing!
-
I thought I would share a treasure and a piece of ancient knowledge that has influenced many and been quoted in part by many that perhaps are not even aware of where that quote came from. I had not even heard of the Emerald Tablet yet have many times heard the quote; “That which is below is like that which is above & that which is above is like that which is below” I had the belief that was a quote from the Bible.. You learn something new every day. I also learned that Carl Jung was believed to have fallen asleep on the Emerald Tablet and even more interestingly Sir Isaac Newton translated it and studied it in depth. Isaac Newton was also one of the most known Alchemists of all time another intriguing fact I was unaware of until I read about the Emerald Tablet. It is his translation I choose to share the excerpt I share is from Wikipedia.
-
Newton’s translation
A translation by Isaac Newton is found among his alchemical papers that are currently housed in King’s College Library, Cambridge University.[8]
1. Tis true without lying, certain & most true.
2. That which is below is like that which is above & that which is above is like that which is below to do the miracles of one only thing
3. And as all things have been & arose from one by the mediation of one: so all things have their birth from this one thing by adaptation.
4. The Sun is its father, the moon its mother, the wind hath carried it in its belly, the earth is its nurse.
5. The father of all perfection in the whole world is here.
6. Its force or power is entire if it be converted into earth.
7. Separate thou the earth from the fire, the subtle from the gross sweetly with great industry.
8. It ascends from the earth to the heaven & again it descends to the earth & receives the force of things superior & inferior.
9. By this means you shall have the glory of the whole world
10. & thereby all obscurity shall fly from you.
11. Its force is above all force. For it vanquishes every subtle thing & penetrates every solid thing.
12. So was the world created.
13. From this are & do come admirable adaptations whereof the means (or process) is here in this. Hence I am called Hermes Trismegist, having the three parts of the philosophy of the whole world
14. That which I have said of the operation of the Sun is accomplished & ended.

- Meditation and Alchemy are two subjects I have a great interest in on a spiritual level, embracing both Eastern and Western Philosophies It was a gift to go off the grid for a few days and sit in nature and just be with the natural world and contemplate as well as meditate after having learned about and read this piece of mystical writing shared with me through the world of blogging!

I thank you for allowing me to share a thought or two and thank you all for being you and sharing the thoughts and love you share in doing so! Thank you as well for being the positive change our world so needs as you share your smiles and share your love making it a better world for all we share it with! 
Namaste!  bows head and smiles deeply!

“A Green Stream”… By Wang Wei, One of my favorite poems

I thought I would share one of my favorite poems. I rarely share a poem I didn’t write. I however was inspired to share this one as each time I read it, it has a new and deeper meaning I am quite amazed at the simple complexity expressed in this short poem. The Tang Shi is part of one of my favorite sacred texts, “The Book of Changes” I study as I expand my consciousness and my spiritual awareness. There are many lessons we can learn from the metaphors expressed in ancient writings.. We as humanity may have far more technology that our ancestors did even a hundred years ago yet the wheel has been around for about 5000 years. The truth is we have all but forgotten some of the treasures shared with us by our ancestors spiritually and our common desire for tranquility. “Oh to remain on a broad flat rock and to cast a fishing line forever”

A Green Stream

I have sailed the River of Yellow Flowers,
Borne by the channel of a green stream,
Rounding ten thousand turns through the mountains
On a journey of less than thirty miles….
Rapids hum over heaped rocks;
But where light grows dim in the thick pines,
The surface of an inlet sways with nut-horns
And weeds are lush along the banks.
…Down in my heart I have always been as pure
As this limpid water is….
Oh, to remain on a broad flat rock
And to cast a fishing-line forever!

Thank you for allowing me to share a thought or two and thank you for being you! I am grateful for your being the positive change our world so needs by sharing your smiles and sharing your love and making our world a better place for all we share it with. 

4200/4200= Humanity united…

earthjup

In a group I participate in discussions in on LinkedIn, the Spiritual Writers Assoc. I came across an interesting discussion and thoughts  being shared. So I thought I would share a few thoughts and a Mathematics Equation to a problem as it was noted by a participant in the group. The law of Mathematics is quite undeniable and is used to verify everything in science so I would like to share an answer to a very important issue in a mathematical way.

The discussion is titled:
Can all religions be considered as different pathways to know God?
The comment shared below inspired this post and the math;
Abdo Salem
Writer at Google
It is clear that all pathways to God, founded by the prophets of the past, are ideal. But in reality they became a reason for fight and killing. There is no choice. You inherit your belief from your society and rare are those who choose after that. Now all beliefs are growing in parallel lines and their meeting is impossible unless they reached the eternity or infinity. This is the logic of mathematics which prevail this age. So we need one equation that can gather all pathways in one way.

Gregg Anderton Religion & Spirituality Supervisor
There are more than 730 established Religions in the world which are broken out into more the 3200 different sects. Other sources say there are 4200

My answer is this 4200/4200= 1

4200 Religions and sects divide humanity if 4200 religions and sects were to unite then we would once again have one united humanity.

There is only 1 humanity of which we are all a part of one planet we live on one solar system that planet exists in one galaxy that solar system is part of one Universe that humanity, the Earth, the Solar system, the Galaxy and many other galaxies are part of. Even though the Universe seems to be divided it is one Universe. As I would like to share in my way that as divided as we are by our religious beliefs we are one, humanity.

Funny thing about all those religions, sects and the division they cause is that they all share a common belief that we should all treat each other as we would be treated…

Perhaps it is time we as human beings did some simple math divide your religion by one and what do you get for an answer? That answers is the same as my answer 1 apply that to our world and our one common ground no matter religion, race, creed, health, wealth, where you live how you live, clothed, naked, hungry or full/// we are one Human Race.. one Humanity it may be that we appear divided yet what divides us?

The power of one, the power of one humanity united Imagine that and what we could accomplish and how we could change our world. Imagine if religion were not part of the equation yet the values of our combined religious beliefs were actually practiced instead of preached where we could be as far as human evolution. Imagine a world where kindness prevailed and there was peace in all corners of the globe.

Thank you, Abdo Salem for asking the question and expressing the need to present the problem in a mathematical way. Thank you, Gregg Anderson for your statistics.

Thank you all for allowing me to share my thoughts and my math skills in the hope of inspiring a solution to the largest dividing factor of our collective Humanity…Thank you all as well for being you and being the positive change our world so needs. By sharing your smiles and sharing your love you are making our world a better place for all we share it with. 
